Royal Caribbean Line cruse is deployed in the Pacific Ocean with its ship Radiance. The Radiance provides their guests with excellent service, extraordinary food, a casino, bar, disco as well as many other conveniences. The Radiance will stop at ports in Alaska and Canada such as Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Hubbard Glacier. The most unappealing trait that this ship carries is its size – carrying ~ 2500 passengers on one cruise.

Another cruise line is the Princess Cruise Lines. This would be my second choice of the large cruise ships. They carry the same amount as the Royal Caribbean. Travel agents will usually recommend this ship if you are interested in a romantic weeklong cruise.

You can also check the Carnival and Celebrity Alaskan Cruises as well. These are less expensive than the other ships but they still include rooms that are equipped with a balcony or veranda. This is great for watching icebergs and wildlife.

Some smaller ships that carry fewer passengers are the American Safari and Cruise West. Their service is excellent and because it is a smaller ship, they can navigate in a more variety of waters than larger ships. Only the most experienced crew can navigate these ships, and both of these Cruise Lines are credible.

All of these ships include on-board entertainment such as casinos, a theater, movie halls, bar and gyms. Most all ships have a plethora of activities for younger people as well as older people. Some will even provide handicapped accessibility. You can also arrange for special diets if you are diabetic or on a low carb/calorie diet. Be sure to ask first if you need special care.

You should always be sure to book far in advance to reserve your spot. These cruises will book fast and the ships need to make sure that they have enough space to accommodate everyone. There are group rates available and sometimes promotions can allow for a discounted cruise.

Most cruises will begin at either Los Angeles or San Francisco. If you are coming from out of state, make sure to make arrangements to allow for enough time to arrive and get to your cruise.

The best time of the year to enjoy an Alaskan cruise is during the months May-September. The ships will be most crowded, but the weather is sustainable and ideal for those who are interested in going to Alaska for the first time.
