What Should You Pack For Your Alaskan Cruise?

With the increased popularity of Alaska as a vacation to relax and enjoy nature’s beauty and a different culture, it may be quite difficult to pack. In fact, to support the fact that Alaska is becoming more popular for vacations, Alaska has even become a top pick for honeymooners.

One way to start a grand experience to Alaska is to enjoy a luxurious cruise with drinking, dancing, gambling, movies, and shows. Then when you arrive in Alaska, you can enjoy the scenic view of the mountains, glaciers and other historical attractions such as Gold Rush days, the White Pass Railroad or even a mount hike.

Since the best time to travel to Alaska is between May and September, you may not need to bring 8 coats to put on at once. In fact, when you travel to Alaska, you will go through quite a variety of different temperatures. Be sure to plan your attire for experiences such as hiking, camping, fishing, and climbing. Alaska will still be quite cold, so make sure that you dress warmly, yet not be too bundled up to sacrifice mobility for adventures.

Perhaps the best solution for dressing in Alaska is to dress in layers. Do not bring anything too bulky, but rather bring comfortable lightweight clothing layers. This will allow you to remove layers to adjust to the occasion and temperatures. Also, as an added bonus, your different layers will trap air and actually keep you warmer. Also be sure to bring climbing shoes in case you plan on exploring.

Be careful about bringing only jeans to wear for leg clothing for they take a while to dry. You do not want to be stuck in a situation where you may not be able to change into dry clothes immediately. Maybe a better choice would be to bring sweatpants or jogging suits. Also make sure to bring windbreakers, jackets and rain coats.

You should also plan to pack protective accessories for they are vital to a trip to Alaska. Bring a sun visor or hat to help protect your eyes. Also be sure to bring sun glasses with UV blocking lenses. A light hat that is water protected and an umbrella will also be good choices. Make sure that you also bring light gloves to keep your hands warm and protected from wind and water. Finally, be sure to bring sun block to protect yourself against the sun for exposed areas.

It is always best to plan ahead when you are going to any trip. This way you will be prepared with the proper supplies and clothing. Don’t stress too much though because everyone forgets something. That is why they sell supplies on the cruise ship or when you dock at a local port. Good luck and enjoy your trip at Alaska!
